A question that we get as Physio's all the time, when can I play again?

We alway encourge a graded return to sport and there are multiple factors that can influence our decision to give you the green light to play however following a lower limb injury whether it be the ankle, hip or knee, here are four tests that we commonly use in our criteria to determine if you are fit to play.

Single hop for distance: Can you hop land and stabilise the same distance on your injured leg as your uninjured leg?

Triple hop for distance: Can you hop thee times in a row and cover the same distance on your injured leg as your uninjured leg?

Crossover hop for distance: Can you hop thee times in a row crossing a line and cover the same distance on your injured leg as your uninjured leg?

6 meter hop for time: Can out hop on one foot and cover 6 meters in the same time as you can on your uninjured leg?

If you pass all of these tests and have maintained your fitness then there is a good chance you will be able to hit the field or court for the next game.
